Flipkart Moves Closer to IPO, Plans to Invite Banks in April

E-commerce giant Flipkart is moving closer to its long-awaited initial public offering (IPO). The Walmart-backed company is reportedly preparing to invite investment banks to pitch for roles in its upcoming IPO as early as April.

According to reports, the company has already started informal discussions with several banks and investors to understand market interest for the proposed public listing. The next step will involve banks presenting their plans and strategies to handle the IPO process.

The potential IPO could take place later in 2026 or in early 2027, depending on market conditions and regulatory progress. The listing is expected to happen in Mumbai, which would make it one of the most closely watched technology IPOs in India.

Flipkart, which is majority owned by global retail giant Walmart, is one of India’s largest e-commerce platforms. The company has been expanding rapidly in categories such as electronics, fashion, and grocery, competing with rivals like Amazon and other emerging online marketplaces.

The funds raised from the IPO are expected to support Flipkart’s future growth plans. These may include investments in technology, logistics infrastructure, and strengthening its position in India’s highly competitive online retail market.

In preparation for the public listing, Flipkart has also completed a major restructuring step by shifting its holding company’s domicile from Singapore to India. This move is seen as a key step that allows the company to list more easily on Indian stock exchanges.

If the IPO plans move forward, Flipkart’s listing could become one of the biggest technology IPOs in India and may attract strong interest from both domestic and global investors. Market experts believe the listing could also boost investor confidence in India’s startup and digital commerce sector.

For now, the company is in the early stages of the process, and the final timeline and valuation for the IPO will depend on market conditions and investor response in the coming months.
